Relining and Rebasing
If, over time, you feel that your prosthesis seems loose or “too big” for your mouth, there are procedures that can be undertaken to re-adapt the fit of the prosthesis and extend the life of your denture. These are relining and rebasing.
Relining consists of adding some acrylic to the inside of the prosthesis to refit the surface between your soft tissue (palate and gums) and the denture.
Rebasing sees the total replacement of the pink acrylic portion of the denture whilst maintaining the setup of the teeth of the old denture. This enables you to improve the stability of the denture whilst keeping the same smile.
